FILM & MEDIA FESTIVAL FAQ
• Do I need to be a film student to submit a film?
Not at all. Students of any major are permitted to submit an entry.
• Is there a minimum/maximum length my submission needs to be?
No. Films have been submitted and accepted ranging from one minute to thirty. However, do note that the festival must schedule films to be screened within a certain time frame, so film length is taken into consideration (ex. one 30-minute film vs. three 10-minute films).
• What is a logline?
A logline is a one-sentence summary of your film that defines the main concept, and may feature a "hook" to interest the reader. (ex. A boxer with a loser mentality is offered a chance by the world champ to fight for the title but, with the help of his lover must learn to see himself as a winner before he can step into the ring.)
• I'm unsure about which category best suits my entry. What should I do?
Circle one category as asked on the form, and under the "Other Comments" section at the bottom of the page, note why you were unsure and if there are other categories you feel your submission falls under.
• My film uses music I don't have a copyright for. Is that a problem?
As of now the Film & Media Festival does not restrict the use of copyrighted music. However, note that the use of copyrighted music in your film may present an issue if you are looking to submit it to other film festivals or place it in your portfolio/reel. One alternative we suggest considering is using Creative Commons licensed work.
• What if I have other questions?
